Frost is a Freenet message board system. The majority of users have migrated to FMS(Freenet Messaging System), which is more resistant to spam and flooding attacks; however, Frost still remains the predominant source for ***** material (see stats freesite below). This application, written in Java like Freenet itself, allows for the creation of public and private boards where posts are made. Users can also create identities and send each other private messages. Frost simplifies downloading of files by allowing keys to be downloaded directly from messages. Frost also includes a basic Upload tool for sharing content.

File Sharing

Frost also has a file sharing service which can be used to search for specific files shared by other users, however this has been subject to attack by people who spam Frost with junk files causing the database kept by Frost to become so big that it will stop Frost from being able to start after a peroid of time, as a result the file sharing service in Frost has been disabled by default. This means the only way to find files in Frost is to subscribe to board where users share specific files i.e. the board _jp_anime is a Japanese board for sharing anime.

Frost Boards

To find the most active boards you can check out the Frost stats freesite hereTemplate:Freenet. To update your list of boards download the activeboards.xml then import it into Frost by clicking News -> Display Known Boards then click "Import ..." and select the downloaded XML file.

Download

Frost can be downloaded from SourceForge or its official freesiteTemplate:Freenet(can also be accessed from [1]).
